Welcome to Accordion Repair Centre.

Hi, my name is Peter Grivic and my journey with accordions began at the tender age of 4. It all started when my grandfather, who never had the chance to learn himself, gifted me a piano accordion. This early introduction sparked a lifelong passion for the instrument, leading me to immerse myself in all things accordion. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of playing in numerous bands, both locally and internationally, sharing the joy of accordion music with audiences far and wide.

Today, I channel my deep love and extensive knowledge of accordions into repairing and restoring these cherished instruments. Each accordion I work on tells a unique story and it brings me immense joy to breathe new life into them. My goal is to help families reconnect with their treasured heirlooms, preserving the rich history and memories associated with each instrument.

"I brought my 96 bass Scandalli Air to Peter to have the grill repaired. It had been handled rough on a JetStar flight and had multiple areas bent out of shape that I thought would be there forever. Peter completely repaired all of the broken parts and returned it to me looking brand new. I asked him to give it a tune and freshen up as well as it hadn't had any proper work since I bought it in 2017. He identified a bellows leak and also noticed I was missing a foot on the base of the accordion and fashioned an entirely new one (one that looks so identical to the others that I don't know which one isn't the original anymore). "A big heartfelt thank you to Peter Grivic who so expertly and painstakingly brought my beloved Zupan Alpe 120M back to life after it suffered catastrophic damage on a plane trip. The instrument was so badly damaged that it was completely unplayable after I took it out of its case upon arriving home! I contacted Peter Grivic about having a look at the badly damaged instrument. Peter was very honest when it came to the potential high costs for repairs, especially considering the mammoth job that lay ahead for him, if he was able to get the instrument back to playing condition. I got an unexpected phone call from Peter, telling me that he's visiting Melbourne and wished to catch up with me. Boy was I in for a pleasant surprise! Peter not only brought the once badly damaged and unplayable accordion to my door, he expertly demonstrated how he not only repaired the instrument, but it actually played and sounded better than it did before that fateful plane trip!"

"Peter has rescued my dream accordion from going into the scrap heap, and I'm not exaggerating. My piano accordion was previously damaged from a bad drop and a bad tuning job. I was devastated. To my amazement, Peter has completely rescued it and turned it into my favourite stage and recording instrument. All cracks were carefully repaired from the inside, broken register mechanism was restored, the grill magically re-created from 2 different metal grills, the condition of the reeds dramatically improved, and the harsh wet tuning restored to the original drier musette tuning for Alpine folk music as per my wishes. During the entire process, Peter kept me updated with photos of the progress as well as explanations of the diagnosis and remedy to each problem he uncovered.
